What We Do
The majority of our fundraising is for Sunshine Coaches, which affords children the opportunity to visit places many of us take for granted – McDonalds, the local park, the seaside… To date, Variety Golf has put over 1,150 coaches on the road, currently averaging around 20 a year. The schools and care centres the coaches are donated to have expressed just how much these coaches mean, and how much they benefit the children. Take a look at this video of one of our Sunshine Coach presentations…
Golf For Disabled Children
Golf for Disabled Children is a scheme initiated by Michael Leek OBE to deliver golf lessons to disabled and disadvantaged children in the Midlands. Mike reached out to Variety Golf to see if this was something we might be interested in helping to take nationwide, and after viewing a lesson, seeing how much joy golf brought to the children, we couldn’t wait to get on board.
We soon discovered The Golf Trust, a charity delivering golf lessons not only to children, but to every age, gender and race. The Golf Trust already had a nationwide network of golf coaches in place, so it seemed a great fit. We decided to join forces, so now all three charities are working towards expanding the scheme nationwide.
Now and then The Golf Trust will deliver a lesson at our events, allowing our members to see the joy first-hand.
